Singapore Green Plan 2030's goals
In recent times, climate change has become a prevalent issue and Singapore is not insulated from its detrimental effects.

Hence, our government has embraced the severity of this issue and developed our 2023 Singapore Green Plan. It targets to achieve...
1. â…” reduction of net carbon emissions from schools
2. 20% of schools to be carbon neutral.
This plan consists of 5 pillars: City in Nature, Energy Rest, Sustainable Living, Green Economy and Resilient Future. The pillars of Resilient Future and Sustainable Living aligns with our research on the implementation of floating wetlands in Singapore.
1. Sustainable Living
Aim: achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

However, limitations, in land area, natural resources and climatic conditions, prevents us from large-scale deployment of renewable energy sources
-
Difficult for us to achieve our goals
-
Actively looking out for alternatives: promoting green commute
-
Growing our rail networks from 230km to 360km
-
Cycling network from 460 km to 1,320 km by 2023
-
-
Reduce carbon emissions and embracing sustainability
2. Resilient Future
Aim: start preparing Singaporean citizens on how to deal with climate change over the next century.
-
Look out for solutions to moderate the rise of urban heat
-
Mitigate the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect
-
Phenomenon where densely populated areas are warmer, due to the emission of waste heat from vehicles and factories and heat being trapped in buildings during the day and released at night
-
-
-
Deployed island-wide network of climate sensors
-
Collect data on ambient temperature, relative humidity and wind speeds and accurately model future climatic scenarios
-
Design open spaces and promote natural ventilation
-
-
Partnered with various companies to implement a UHI mitigation action plan
-
Encouraging the use of cool materials and reducing human-generated heat
-
